I have used this new comact cordless drll a few times and it appears to be a well made and designed tool. I like the fact that it IS compact and has good torque. The chuck locks tools very well and tight. Unlike in older Makitas the head does not free spin as you tighten the toll. The batteries charge very quickly and are quite compact- BIG improvement. The case is well designed on the inside as it provides room for the extra bits drills etc. inside the case. There is only one negative I found the LED bulb points the light just bellow the spot where one actually need the light such as when drilling a small hole the light is pointed just bellow the drill bit. I have to see if there is some adjustment for it. Overall it IS a Very Good Tool amazingly powerful for its size.

With one in hand and actually using the device I can honestly say it is an excellent gorgeous piece of hardware. The biggest flaw it weighs a ton. The weight doesnt sound like a bad thing but after I held this device in both hands while laying down my arms got sore. Its a small thing but you should be aware that it is heavy. Set up was super simple. Connect the unit to your computer run iTunes follow the wizard. About 5 minutes later the iPad is set up and activated. The wizard does call it an iPhone for some strange reason. If you have an iPhone already the set up is a bit easier. It will inherit most of your settings.
